The Finest in Motion Picture & Television Production

Founded by award winning independent filmmaker Shuaib Mitchell, Nubia Filmworks, LLC is rapidly becoming one of the premier motion picture and television production companies in the U.S, producing several award winning films and television shows since its inception in 2003.

Our latest film is a feature length documentary entitled THE GAME THAT CHANGED COLLEGE BASKETBALL. The film revisits the historic 1974 ACC Championship game between NC State University and the University of Maryland and its ultimate impact on the NCAA Tournament and the  game of college basketball as we know it.  The film features some of the greatest names in college basketball history and is scheduled for world-wide release in 2022.

Some of our other outstanding films include "TOO SAVED", a "faith-based" romantic comedy which is the winner of several awards including  the prestigious Dove "Family Approved" Seal (4-Star Rating) and "Best Film" awards at various U.S and International film festivals and "NOCTURNAL AGONY",  a dramatic "thriller" starring an all-star cast that includes  veteran Hollywood actors Lawrence-Hilton Jacobs, Vernee' Watson, Rae'Ven Larrymore Kelly and Grammy award winning gospel recording artist Hezekiah Walker. The critically acclaimed film is the winner of several screenplay awards and the prestigious 2014 TIVA-DC Bronze Peer Award (for Independent Feature). Distributed world-wide by Maverick Entertainment Group, Inc., Nocturnal Agony is currently one of the highest rated films on Amazon Prime, receiving a 4-Star Rating (out of a possible 5).  Nocturnal Agony is also available on Hulu, TUBi and in RedBox, Wal-Mart, and various other retail outlets nationwide.

Additional Nubia Filmworks productions include "Straight Up Go Go", a one-hour  documentary film on the history, culture, and sociology of Washington D.C's world renowned "Go-Go" music. Straight Up Go Go was distributed internationally by ATA Trading Corp. and has aired numerous times on PBS television.
