Founded by award winning independent filmmaker Shuaib Mitchell, Nubia Filmworks, LLC is rapidly becoming one of the premier motion picture and television production companies in the U.S, producing several award winning films and television shows since its inception in 2003.
Our latest film is a feature length documentary entitled THE GAME THAT CHANGED COLLEGE BASKETBALL. The film revisits the historic 1974 ACC Championship game between NC State University and the University of Maryland and its ultimate impact on the NCAA Tournament and the game of college basketball as we know it. The film features some of the greatest names in college basketball history and is scheduled for world-wide release in 2022.

Some of our other outstanding films include "TOO SAVED", a "faith-based" romantic comedy which is the winner of several awards including the prestigious Dove "Family Approved" Seal (4-Star Rating) and "Best Film" awards at various U.S and International film festivals and "NOCTURNAL AGONY", a dramatic "thriller" starring an all-star cast that includes veteran Hollywood actors Lawrence-Hilton Jacobs, Vernee' Watson, Rae'Ven Larrymore Kelly and Grammy award winning gospel recording artist Hezekiah Walker. Additional Nubia Filmworks productions include "Straight Up Go Go", a one-hour documentary film on the history, culture, and sociology of Washington D.C's world renowned "Go-Go" music. Straight Up Go Go was distributed internationally by ATA Trading Corp. and has aired numerous times on PBS television.

Nubia Filmworks is proud to announce that we are currently producing a new feature-length documentary film entitled "The Game That Changed College Basketball". The film revisits the historic 1974 ACC Championship game between NC State University and the University of Maryland and examines its ultimate impact on the NCAA Tournament and the game of college basketball. The film features a list of participants that reads like a virtual "Who's Who" of college basketball including legendary University of Maryland Basketball Coach Charles "Lefty" Driesell (Basketball Hall of Fame), University of Maryland basketball legends John Lucas, Len Elmore, Tom McMillen, Maurice "Moe" Howard, Tom Roy, and Billy Hahn, NC State legends David Thompson, Tom Burleson, and Monty Towe, acclaimed Washington Post Columnist and "best selling" author John Feinstein, and legendary sportscaster Billy Packer.
