Nubia Filmworks, Inc. is a motion picture and television production company founded in 1994 by Washington D.C based independent filmmaker Shuaib Mitchell. Nubia Filmworks produces major motion picture and television productions as well as provides professional film and video production services to a wide range of government agencies and businesses throughout the country. The wide range of projects that we produce for clients include, commercials, music videos, corporate training videos, concerts, public service announcements and promotional videos. Over the years our list of distinguished clientele have included such well known organizations as Lustine Nissan, The Smithsonian Institute, The Anacostia Museum, BET Movies, CAPCOM, Inc., and The Washington Baptist Seminary.

In addition to our services for clients, Nubia Filmworks has produced a variety of motion picture and television programs including the newly released feature length motion picture Too Saved (2007), an inspirational and spiritually enlightening love story revolving around the life of a young woman who is actively praying for her boy friend to accept Jesus Christ as his personal savior. Unfortunately, when he does, she finds out that it’s much more than she ever bargained for, Straight Up Go Go (1993), a one-hour PBS documentary on the history and sociology of Washington D.C’s “Go-Go” music, and A Giant Among Men: The life & Times of Andrew Fowler (coming Fall 2007) a feature length documentary that explores the fascinating life and career of the legendary Minister, and President of The Washington Baptist Seminary, Dr. Andrew Fowler.

In addition, Nubia Filmworks has several feature length screenplays that are scheduled for upcoming production including A Rose By Any Other Name, a teenage coming of age/love story and winner of the prestigious Larry Neal Writer’s Award (1999), the DC Screenwriter’s Competition (2000), The DC Commission on the Arts & Humanities Individual Artist Award (2000) and the Maryland State Individual Artist Award (2001), and Nocturnal Agony, the tragic story of a young Christian woman and her life long struggle with drug addiction, depression/low self esteem and spirituality.
